For Robin Hood & musical priest: Tempest is a band out of San Francisco which could best be described as Celtic-Nordic-folk-rock-fusion. They don't actually sound like Horslips, or even remind me of Horslips, but a think Horslips fans would like their music. They have the distinction be being the "little united nations" of the folk-rock world. Frontman singer/mandolinist Lief Sorbye is from Norway, Ronan Carroll (guitar) is from Ireland, Adolfo Lazo (drums) from Cuba, Ariane Cap (bass) from Austria, and Michael Mullen (fiddle) from USA. If you go to www.tempestmusic.com and click "discography" there are lots of MP3 samples. Check the ones from the Shapeshifter CD for the best examples of what they sound like now. "Tamosher" would be really typical of their songs, "Coalminers" is an excellent example of their superb instrumentals. "Winter Night" is a very sweet love song which is absolutely NOT typical of their usual, but quite nice anyway. Lief says "women like that one." Then scroll down to the Turn Of The Wheel CD, and click on "Bonden og Kraka" for a rather catchy Norwegian folk song. (skip the live CD, the sound is a bit muddy) And let me know what you think

I'm an old, old fan of Tempest's (bless 'em) and remember Lief singing a song about Lutefisk (LEWda-fisk) with a love and fervor that only a Norwegian could muster for that subject.
I agree with Greeneking that this isn't a case of "Just Like Horslips" but certainly works well in a mix that has Horslips tunes in it.

MP I just exalted you....did you feel the earth move?
Got to see Tempest play an outdoor concert on my birthday a couple of weeks ago, it was grand! Gorgeous night, excellent music, load of tiny kiddies dancing up next to the stage. And one of my companions tipped the band off and I had 300-odd people singing happy birthday to me.

So you did my child! Exalt or Smite seem to be the options, I see. Let me try exalting you in return.
A very happy birthday to you Greeneking!

I'm quite intrigued by this Tempest.....are they in the same vein as Celtic Rock supergroup Mushroom, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

You point to where some such as me can nibble a bit of "Mushroom" and then I'll know if it can be compared to Tempest. Have you heard of this lot?
